What you will learn
Because of the educator ratio, there will be loads of time to split up and tackle different areas that you feel you need to learn more throughout the course.

You’ll be taken right through the entire process of how to build a high quality plate aluminium boat;
  • Starts with introduction to welding and other equipment required to build.
  • Then we begin unpacking the kit and reading and understanding the plans.
  • Setting out the build, and preparing to start creating the main structural elements.
  • You’ll learn all the steps. All the way to finishing techniques, the tips and tricks along the way, and ultimately leave confident in setting out your own project.

Other Items;

  • Welding and testing you underdeck Fuel tank
  • Pulling up a variable deadrise hull
  • Fitting a fully sealed deck
We’ve been careful to work with CNC Marine in creating a vessel that is smaller in stature, and quicker to put together but has all the same elements as one of their full commercial builds. Within the 4 days we’ll have extra fabricators running through areas making sure we can progress to the next stage without all the work in between.
Do I need any prior learning to do this course?

Not necessarily, because of the educator ratio we will be able to tailor the course to varying skill levels. On the first day we will run through all the tools required and there will be plenty of opportunity to go through and learn/practise all the welding knowledge before tackling the build of the boat.

Towards the end of the course there will be time to go over aspects that you feel you didn’t quite grasp and reaffirm those skills.

What do I need to bring to course
  • Wear appropriate safety clothing.
    Closed-toe leather work boots or work boots
    long sleeve shirt and pants.
  • Welding goggles, gloves, and other materials supplied on the day.

If you have your own gear you are welcome to bring along
